If you’ve never heard of Majestic12, then you’ve obviously never played Deus Ex (a great game, by the way). Back to SEO land, Majestic12 is basically a distributed search engine, that hopes to outgun the "Big G" (Google) in terms of its raw spidering and indexing. It’s an interesting project, and I’m increasingly seein their bot in my server logs. Something that many people won’t know is that they regularly give out statistics (you can also purchase credits to gain more of an insight into their database).
So for those folks unaware of the project, here is one of their recent lists showing the world’s top 200 "top domains" as referenced by incoming links (backlinks). Now this is not a popularity contest, nor does it give any sort of indication of site content, quality, the external websites or any other sort of signficiant SEO factors. That said it’s a nice little bit of web trivia, although the results are not particularly surprising, all the "usual suspects" are there, but for SEO geeks its a fun list to read (yes, most SEO people need to get out more).

It’s quite an interesting project and they have allready crawled 33 billion unique pages and 211 billion unique URLs. That’s quite a database and I’m sure they’re running some pretty impressive hardware to faciliate this.
